Just upgraded locally to 4.8.0-dev, actually, for docs testing reasons. I have 4 plugins installed. Each one threw two errors, the same in each case, for example:
Warning: mkdir(): Permission denied on line 509
Warning: file_put_contents(/Users/destry/Sites/wion/textpattern/plugins/soo_toc/soo_toc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory on line 532
I get an ‘All checks pass!’ in diagnostics, though.

Oooh we should probably check the ‘textpattern/plugins’ directory is writable in Diagnostics too. I’ll fix that, thanks for the catch.

Yep, a 777 on the folder made it go away.
I know, I know, this isn’t Vegas and 777 isn’t jackpot. But I’m plagued with one of the operating systems that no matter what I try to do to regulate my setup, I can’t use any sane chmod value otherwise; it just keeps throwing errors.
So I roll sevens.

The writability check for the plugin directory is now reported in both the Diagnostics and Plugins panels.
New strings required too.

Where is the download link?
Latest dev versions are always available from github.com/textpattern/textpattern – just click on the green ‘Clone or download’ button and then download a zip. Note that dev versions are not really suitable for production as they are constantly changing/evolving.
