Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.8.0-beta released
Great news! Well done everyone!
The first thing I get is the “Please force re-load the page or clear your caches” but it persists even when I have done both, logged out, restarted the browser and re-logged in. I called up textpattern.js manually and refreshed that to make sure it uses the latest version but I still get that message. Anyone else?
Edit: this is on a site that’s been regularly updated to the current dev, so hasn’t gone from the previous public version to this one.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.8.0-beta released
Weird. What’s your ‘version’ string in the txp_prefs table? It should still be at 4.7.3 or whatever version you upgraded from. If the textpattern.js (e0c03dbfd8ac910abe66340aa586b722) and textpattern/index.php (26fd6edba46f256a932bfc9aafeb08a4) files both report 4.8.0-beta I can’t see why it would do that.
strokes stubble in thought
EDIT: Do you get the same behaviour from a private browsing session?

Jakob:
Two websites upgraded (from a previous dev version) but no error found (clean browser console too).

That was a good pointer. I “git pulled” so am one beyond the beta release tag. It seems the alert is caused because textpattern.js shows 4.8.0-beta and index.js 4.8.0-dev. Resetting textpattern.js manually to 4.8.0-dev silences the error.

Or me updating the textpattern.js file to dev as well. Oops, sorry :)

Thanks! Just saw you do that. Sorry for polluting the thread with the distraction…

That still isn’t fixing it for me.
Addendum: I downloaded the beta instead of using Git and the error went away as expected.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.8.0-beta released
Q. Is it intentional for the Preview dialog on the Write pane to display both the body
and the excerpt
? All the recent dev builds only showed the content of one (1) textarea, body
or excerpt
.
(I guess this might be a side effect of fixing that save bug)
Edit: Scrap that, the result of a cached js file. Hmm, I did reload, I thought.

4.8 is a very nice release overall, lots of nice little things under the hood – thanks Oleg !!

Waiting the final release to congrat. But, yes: excellent work by Oleg, excellent work by Stef and excellent “Hive” back-end by Phil. Thank you lot, all!
