The best person to review that – and I trust your judgement on this – is Uli as a native speaker.

… is only a matter of taste, both are viable.

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.6

The blog post is getting traction: there’s a translator for Slovakian being signed up. Yeah!

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.6

I can help with the Polish translation.
I’ve forked the repo and will submit the missing strings later today.

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.6

25% of the Textpacks now have a translator. Excellent news.

Another 12 and we’ll pass the 50% barrier.

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.6

Just to let you know, I’m currently in the middle of tidying up the RPC server database so the translations there match what we have on GitHub.

Lots of the languages there were in a bit of a state – with strings totally missing and extra strings that aren’t even part of the list.

I started it a couple of years back but have decided to crack on due to all Pete and the translators good work recently.

About half of the Textpacks are fixed and updated as of today (I’m working through them alphabetically).

Please continue any translation efforts though as usual – every string translated helps us towards our goal!

Hey, it will be a pleasure to be the Spanish ambassador! Where do I have to sign in?

Hi Milosevic – thanks for the offer. Please follow the instruction here (you’ll need a GitHub account to participate).

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.6

An update: we’ve passed the 90% milestone on translations.

To give you an idea of progress, the magic number for translated strings before 4.6 appears is 49115. The current number is 46600.

That means there are 2585 more strings to go to hit that magic number.

Can you help? These languages could really benefit from a native speaker with some time to spare:

  • Algerian (Arabic)
  • Danish
  • Estonian
  • Croatian
  • Indonesian
  • Icelandic
  • Norwegian
  • Slovak
  • Thai
  • Turkish
  • Urdu
  • Chinese (Traditional)

That’s brilliant. Thanks Pete for spearheading this movement, and thank you everyone who has contributed so far to the language effort, and future hat-tips to anyone who is going to help with the remaining strings. You’re all marvellous.
