Questions about nested sections and nested RSS feeds

Hello,

I’m an hobbyist trying to set up Textpattern to my needs and I would like to ask you a question and some guidance (as usual one has to do important design decisions early, when one knows less about the system):

1 – Is it possible to build RSS feeds listing articles from a set of sections (not one, and not all sections) ?

2 – I’m trying to set up a blog that would group a collection of more specific blogs. I would like to run a textpattern installation that would include several languages (4) and a series of independent topics.

Because each user would probably only be interested in one language or a topic in one language, I thought I would turn every step in the hierarchy into a section. I read the documentation and came up with the following layout for the site section structure:

Homepage (lists all articles)
..English (lists articles from all english sections)
....Cooking (lists all english cooking articles)
....Drawings
....News
..French
....Cuisine
....Dessin
....Nouvelles
(etc...)

Having nested sections gives the user an easy way to directly access what he wants from my site. If he wants all the english articles he can go to www.mysite.com/english/ If he’s only insterested in the cooking part, he could directly go to www.mysite.com/cooking. If he whants the french cooking section he could go to www.mysite.com/cuisine.

In this way I could set up multiple pseudo-blogs using only one installation. Of course this system only works as long as I keep finding different spellings for the same category in each language (feasible).

It also gives a natural way for the user to select a RSS feeder corresponding to his wishes (Homepage, language, topic), if I can get the nested RSS feeders to work.

Does this seems a sensible approach, or am I missing something important?

Thanks Chi for the indication.

I don’t really need subsections. Sections for me are used as entry points to the site. Sub-domains, if you prefer. The goal is to allow a user to use a section as a full independent blog. To classify contents of a section, categories will be enough, I think.

On the other hand the discussion describes the following instruction:

display a list of all the articles of a given section (<txp:article_custom> with section parameter)

Which will allow me to pull the articles from each topic section to the language section.

But I still don’t know how to get the RSS feeds from a language section to catch the articles from each topic section…
