Place a link to the admin section if a user is signed on

Hi,

Is there a way, via a tag maybe, that I can place a link to the admin area somewhere on my front page if a user is signed on?

I know I can place a link, like mydomain.net/textpattern/, but would like it to be only visible to logged in users.

I searched the forum, faq’s and textbook but didn’t see anything.

Thanks.

cokesque has the chh_admin_tags that will allow you to edit articles and access to the admin

I’ll play with it locally, but I don’t know if I want to mess with the core.

Thanks.

Not an elegant solution, but I usually put an inconspicuous little   somewhere on the page, and link that to /textpattern. So you get an invisible link – those who know where it is can use it, while regular users are unlikely to find it, much less click it.

If that’s not good enough, a simple bit of PHP should be able to look for the textpattern logged-in cookie and pop in a more professional-looking link.

Yes, I have tried turning it off and on.

Hi alesh,

That would be a good idea, as long as a user doesn’t know to hit his tab button to cycle through hyperlinks.

Offtopic, I moved from Miami about 5 months ago, right after Katrina blew over us. Sold at the height of the housing bubble, so I can relate to the article on your site.

If you don’t want to mess with the core, use rss_article_edit to get to the backend.

Ren,

Nine tabs later in Firefox, I’ve figured out the possibilites :)

Still finding out where best to place it, but this will do just fine.

Thanks.
