Hemingway ported to Textpattern

I just ported the Hemingway theme for wordpress to textpattern and have put it up on my site. It’s a dark theme, but it also has a different fomat than most typical blogs.

The new tags in textpattern have allowed me to port it over without using plugins.

I don’t currently have a demo site setup, but you can see a screenshot of the wordpress theme

That sound you just heard? Was me squealing for joy…

I’ve loved Hemingway ever since I first saw it, but never learned enough WP markup to port it myself. Thanks so much for doing this!

Re: Hemingway ported to Textpattern

When i port a wordpress theme, i just install the theme on my test wordpress installation and view source. the tricky part with this theme was getting two entries to appear on the frontpage. I had to add an extra form (index) and use offset to get it to work properly.

Re: Hemingway ported to Textpattern

Nice port, loads quickly and it’s XHTML 1.0 Strict!!

I like the way Kyle has done his home page, a mini portal into his content.

Re: Hemingway ported to Textpattern

hey guys, template is great and seems to work like a charm…

A question though:

How do you handle article excerpts?

currently if i type my article and then copy and past a bit of it into the excerpt box, it shows the excerpt text on the main page, then the full article shows both the excerpt text and the full article text below it. is there a way around that?

view excerpt example here http://malandarras.com/malandesign/
full article example here http://malandarras.com/malandesign/144/our-first-time

thanks!
