Upgrading 1.0-RC3 to 4.0.3 - need some advice

Hi all,

I plan to upgrade a 1.0-RC3 site to 4.0.3 this weekend, and I’m a little nervous. The site is not complicated — simple CSS-only theme, only one plugin (rss_superarchive 0.15.1). I’ve backed up the database and the filesystem. Two questions:

1. Is it bettter to use SVN or just install it manually?

2. Are there any known gotchas for this particular upgrade path?

Thanks in advance…

The only thing I came across is several plugins broke. But in light of all of the changes and additional tags available I didn’t need several of the plugins anymore anyway. All together I thought everything was pretty smooth.

Oh, and I always upgrade manually because of having some custom things in .htacces as well as index.php.

Good luck :)

Thanks. Does it make sense to put it up in a new directory until things are working, then rename it back?
