Modify contents of RSS feeds
Hi, anyone know if it’s at all possible to modify the contents of RSS feeds through forms? Or perhaps a plugin?
I really need to change the way my feeds look, but don’t want to start hacking TxP and lose the ability to upgrade easily.
I’m sure I’m not the first one who likes their feeds customized ;)
cheers,
Bastiaan

I’m not sure I understand what you want to do or what you mean by “look”… because I can think of a few different ones in this context…
Are you talking about changing the appearance in a feed reader, adding content to the visible part of the feed (like adtext or extra links), adding enclosure support, or are do you mean that you want to just have free reign over the XML used (because you want to make the feed adhere to a different RSS version for example). Do you have an example of another feed that does what you want to do?

Re: Modify contents of RSS feeds
Hi! Thanks for the reply.
I’d like to add some custom fields to the article contents, like I do on the html side of the website.
I don’t really care how (by creating an rss xml ‘definition’ from scratch or some other way) this is accomplished. As long as i don’t have to modify textpatterns own files.

Re: Modify contents of RSS feeds
This question is frequently asked and, while it’d be very nice to be able to sink a hook into rss()
or atom()
, as of now it is not possible. I know there has been talk of feed templates, but latest priorities have revolved around adding comment spam plugin functionality and solving the current feed formatting issues.
