Looking for a design...

I’m looking for a template that I can modify to look somewhat like the Flexbot.com (http://www.fleshbot.com) site. I want it left-justified, with a left sidebar, a 2nd column body, and then the ability to easily add lots of ads to the right of the blog entries.

I’m having a heck of a time trying to find something to start with. Can anyone point out a theme that would be a good starting point for this?

I’m also open to using a designer to take something close and modify it for me. In fact, this could be the best option since I’ve never used TextPattern (just WordPress) and I’m not much of a designer.

Re: Looking for a design...

Would a modified <a href=“http://textgarden.org/layouts/80/andreas08”>andreas08</a> work?

Re: Looking for a design...

Or maybe MX4 Three Columns

Here´s one of my sites as an example of layout that is loosely based on that one.

Re: Looking for a design...

Thanks you guys. But, I don’t think any of these so far will be even close to Fleshbot.com’s page organization.

Re: Looking for a design...

Actually they both are close. Close when thinking of a good starting point with multicolumn layout. Aligning content to left is really the simplest thing to do do. Rest takes bit more.

Re: Looking for a design...

slobizman, I’m with p here. Three (or more) column content is the most difficult part of what you’re trying to do, CSS-wise. The rest is relatively easy.

For what it’s worth, I highly recommend at least starting with either MX4 Three Column (nice find, btw!) or andreas08. That way, you’ll at least get the most difficult part (a three-column layout translated into Textpattern code) out of the way and you can use your energy on the less headache-inducing details…

Re: Looking for a design...

The reason I had said the ones that where linked here weren’t close was that I was looking for the side bar in the left hand column.

I should explain that since I’m not much of a CSS codeer/designer, what might seem easy to most here, is not necessarily easy for me. I’ve gotten by in WordPress doing some changes, but with Textpattern I have to learn a whole new CMS so I am really looking for something as close as possible.

Thanks to all.

Ahh. Would it help to know that you can remedy this in either template with a minimum of work? I can almost guarantee you that it’s much easier than you’re thinking: it’s the three-column thing that is the most difficult, not what content goes where. At the very least, it’ll be easier than starting from scratch.

And besides—the <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewforum.php?id=8”>Layout & CSS Discussion forum</a> is always here for you if you get stuck. I still think you should go for it.
