Comments without [p] tags?

I’m more a photographer than a coder, and again, I have a small problem with my site.
After upgrading to latest version of Textpattern. Comments are added with [p] tag, like this:
[p]blah blah blah[/p] – before it was plain text without any tags.
It is not really wanted… could it be turned off or where should I search for it?

I was searching forum for a solution, but no luck…
