Mystics of the Ordinary 2.0 - Complete Redesign

I launched Mystics of the Ordinary using Textpattern’s default templates with only a few minor tweaks. Finally decided to do a complete redesign. I wanted to get away from the Web site/blog look and have something that looked more like a magazine.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Mystics of the Ordinary 2.0 - Complete Redesign

This looks absolutely great. And fabulous content too. Only problem is that some of the content pages look a bit on the ‘bitty’ side, if that makes sense. For example, in your nanowrimo journal (never got round to nanowrimo myself, although it’s a great idea) the page layout it a bit unclear. Perhaps it is because of the comments not aligned with the right hand main text column… Also there’s a problem with the hover on the links on these pages – they disappear as the font color and background are the same.

Minor niggles, and easily corrected, I imagine. Otherwise, great site.

Best wishes,

Will

Re: Mystics of the Ordinary 2.0 - Complete Redesign

Thanks very much for the feedback, nagarjuna.

I think I understand what you’re saying about some pages being on the ‘bity’ side. There are some very short entries, especially in the NaNoWriMo section, that aren’t long enough to wrap around the title. They look a little “floaty” at the top of the page. It looked worse before I put in a clear tag to make sure the comment form didn’t wrap around the title, but it’s not ideal. I’m not sure what to do. Eventually, I’ll probably come up with a slightly different template for each section. I wouldn’t want poems to have to wrap around the headline, for example.

I’ve fixed the hover problem with the links.
