[wiki] Sob...is there a <real> manual?
Terribly sorry and all, but a Wiki manual? (Really?)
Gosh, is there a real manual? One that I can print and study while lying on the couch?
Or does one have to twiddle Wikis? I want to behave and be very polite, so I will now ask that you put your fingers in your ears while I scream.
Yes, yes – the “manual” in Word/PDF format is 7-8 pages long. Uh, hmm, so.

If you mean professional-looking, well-referenced and detailed manual, no. But you are always more than welcome to help make the wiki so once you get acquainted with things.

At the risk of repeating myself: Textpattern is open-source and a labor of love. All the developers have “real” jobs that pay the bills, and spend what time they can on writing code. Every one of us who posts on the forums, answering questions, is also a user who chooses to volunteer his or his time. Everyone who edits the wiki, for that matter, has decided to spend minutes or hours writing documentation instead of posting content on their own sites.
It may not be pretty or elegant or even comprehensive. But it’s what allows the widest possible amount of participation while understanding that documentation isn’t easy or enjoyable when we all have sites to update and lives to lead.

<strong>Edit:</strong> <em>Runbel, I’m sorry; it’s not you. I’ve just heard that question — admittedly phrased less nicely — once too often for my taste. And I personally don’t think dissing the wiki is going to accomplish anything.</em>
<strong>And, now, for something actually useful</strong>: there is a <a href=“http://textpattern.org/tutorials/527/txp-tag-reference-pdf-2”>dead-tree version of the tag reference</a> that gives information on each of the Textpattern tags and its uses. According to my copy of Word it’s 105 pages long, so it may not be a comprehensive “manual”, but it’ll give you ample information to start with.

Thanks, all. Aha, I understand now – the wiki’s for refining sections to be included in the eventual manual. Makes sense. Glad I didn’t lose it. :-}
