Insert single managed link

Hi all! What I want to do is very simple, and hence I’m having a lot of trouble finding a method in the forums/docs etc. I read on the Textpattern site (or some such place) that TXP can handle your links for you, which is especially good if said links are going to be used all over a website, in many documents. This is a great idea, but so far I can only find a method for inserting various kinds of lists of links.

I just want 1 link included in the body of an article. I’m writing about a friend, and link to his site when mentioning in various entries on my site. But his site ady changes, and I want to be able to update it in just one location: the TXP link management page. Is this possible? Thanks for any help in advance!:)

Plugin: <txp:zem_link linkid="xx" />.

Re: Insert single managed link

Doggiez answer. But that makes me think of another thing I was searching for: how can one associate a link or a list of links to an article?

I mean, the same way you can associata article image and article file with file packet plugin. It should be easy to associate also a link number or a comma separated list of link related to that article.

Then we could display them at the bottom of the article (or on the side) as “external related resources”. This is sometimes useful, and at the moment I can’t find a way to have links associated to article.

Any idea?

Thanks doggiez and Zanza. Rockin’ names too ;D

Ahah! A plugin! I knew it was too simple for default TXP features! Zem strikes again!:D

As per your question Zanza: couldn’t you use one of the custom fields for this?

Re: Insert single managed link

Greetings to the Textpattern community. Same problem as Zanza. I thought, I could associate links to a specific article by defining a link category ‘article-Article ID’, but I can’t find a way to pass the article ID to the value ‘category’ in the ‘TXP linklist’-Tag. Is there a way to so?

In the forum I read about the ‘bas_link_per_article’-plugin, what might do the job. Could someone post a working download-link or send me the plug. Thanks for your help.

Re: Insert single managed link

I’ve also searched for similar kind of functionality…
In my case I wanted to make an events management system and use a link-category called Venue to store the re-usable venue information. But I couldn’t find a way to associate call a particular Venue link from an article without using the
<txp:zem_link linkid=“xx” />.
approach that Doggiez suggests. While that is good for me, it would be too much for the person the site is for – they would really need to be able to type the link-title into a custom field.
