Technorati integration

There are a few plugins available for basic Technorati integration, but none of them are too sophisticated, and simply pinging Technorati does not do the trick, either. Built-in Technorati tags inclusion in the syndication feeds would be quite wonderful. And if this semantic web thing is to take off, projects like Textpattern might want to contribute with out-of-the-box tagging and syndication.

Re: Technorati integration

Has anyone installed the Technorati plugins?

How did that go?

I’d like to hear some suggestions on how to best integrate technorati tags into my posts.

Thanks

Re: Technorati integration

That’s interesting, but I think I first need to get some traffic to my blog. I figured Technorati would help with that.

No one’s installed the technorati plugins? I tried downloading the ajw_technorati_tags plugin, but it’s no longer in the download location.

Also, do the tags need to be in the body of the article, or in the rss?

Re: Technorati integration

and here’s an updated hack for the Technorati tags in feeds (afaik the only way currently to accomplish it).

Re: Technorati integration

Ok, so I have installed the plugin, and implemented the hack. Thanks a million Andrew!

I still have some questions…

How do I get Technorati to re load my entire site? or does it happen on it’s own?

I also installed the ping plugin (glx_admin_ping), but that would only ping Technorati when a new article is posted, right?

Re: Technorati integration

Well, not really sure. That’s a good question, and one that perhaps a Technorati engineer would need to answer. Since they say that feed categories or by links in your feed article body are the only way to get recognized, then it seems that it must be a “from this moment forward” system, which sort of seems stupid.

Re: Technorati integration

I wonder if deleting the blog from you list, and submit it again would cause Technorati to crawl the whole site again…

Re: Technorati integration

No, see the problem is that Technorati grabs your tags from your feed. Unless you want to crank up your feeds for a while to &limit=9999 or something (by default) for a while, they’re not going to get more than the 5 or 10 latest articles from your site. From what their developer pages say, their crawler isn’t digging up tags from manual crawls like googlebot; it’s strictly feed-based.

Re: Technorati integration

Admin > Preferences > Advanced Preferences > How many articles on RSS?

(this setting applies to Atom as well)
