Need some help with page templates...
FIRST DISCLAIMER: I may be making this more complicated than it has to. :)
I’m converting our website rosecreekvillage.com from MovableType to Textpattern. I’m coming along just fine with using the TXP tags (though the way images are handled is pretty funky and limited :), but I’m having a little bit of trouble understanding something about how TXP works.
Our site has/will have several sections: Articles, Weblogs, Galleries, Media. The front page is like a “catch all” index page, where exerpts and links to the latest articles, galleries, blogs, videos are displayed, along with general up-front information.
Then I need to have a index page for the articles section, and the other sections as well, and from those, permalinks to the individual entries and articles. (hopefully that makes sense)
I’ve got the front page design worked out great. I’ve created seperate txp sections for Articles, Gallery, Weblogs, etc. Now, when I go to page templates, I only have three to work with: default, archive and error_default. I was assuming that I would be able to make page templates for each sections’ index page, so I could create an entire archive list of articles, a thumbnail gallery index of the galleries, and tailor each index to the specific needs of the section. But I’m not able to make any more page templates? I thought I had read that you could, but there isn’t an option for doing so on the page template area.
Here’s a link to what I’m seeing in the page templates section of the admin
Am I going about this the wrong way, just because I’m not understanding the relationships of sections and content in txp? Or is my install messed up (I’m using this on a local server), and there really should be an “Add new page template” option?

Hi Morgon, you can copy default template change the name and make the changes as you like :)

Re: Need some help with page templates...
You can indeed create as many templates as you want. It’s just a (very) weird quirk that Textpattern doesn’t provide a “create new template” option anywhere.
As Vitor said, feel free to make as many copies of the default template as you need and modify each as appropriate. Not the most elegant solution, but it works.

Thanks so much. Don’t know why that eluded me. :) Cheers!
