Help with crashed table: how can it be repaired?

Hallo, All!

I am a newbie to TxP. Something went wrong when I tried to save an article yesterday. My page was blank and when I tried to access the backend, I got the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: parse() in //belling.org/txp/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php on line 1309

Following the suggestion on this FAQ

http://textpattern.com/faq/73/parse-error-unexpected-

I installed TxP again, but it didn’t work.

The new installation returned 127 errors, among which duplicate entries, existing tables and:

Table ‘./blogbelling/txp_textpattern’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired

How do I proceed? I don’t want to loose all my entries… Even if I made a new DB and then imported the old entries using phpMyAdmin, the one table is corrupted, so it would probably not work?…

Thanks for any advice,

Patricia

Have you attempted to export what is in the table now?

open your database via phpMyAdmin. if you are in textdrive the details of where that is located are in your welcome email.
choose the damaged table and then, below the tables, there is a pull-down menu, select ‘repair’.

Alternatively install <a href=“http://www.wilshireone.com/textpattern-plugins/rss_admin_db_manager”>rss_admin_db_manager</a> plug in and repair the table through that.

Back it up first! You might lose something in the repair process, depending on what and how the table is corrupted.

Re: Help with crashed table: how can it be repaired?

Colak and 1beb,

the posts are back, many thanks. I was able to repair the table using phpMyAdmin. It was marked “in use”. When I tried to save the article, something didn’t work and the table remianed “in use”. I wonder how I can prevent this to happen in the future. I will certainly set a cronjob to backup the database on a regular basis.

Again, thanks for your help.
