How do I check if a database is corrupt?

Two days ago my webhosting company took my server down to add more drive space and put it back up. Everyone’s site was up and running, but unfortunately my site came up blank. The page was not creating any output whatsoever. I couldn’t even access the backend of TXP.

After digging around I found out that if I did a fresh install with a brand new database it would work, but if I tried to connect it to my old database it would show a blank page. I have no idea what could be causing this. Did the database become corrupted? How do I verifry this? How do I resolve this?

Has anyone else seen anything like this before?

Re: How do I check if a database is corrupt?

This FAQ has some pointers on checking tables.

See also a search for ‘blank page’.

Re: How do I check if a database is corrupt?

Zem,

Thanks for the reply, I gave that a try but came up unsuccesful. I did narrow down the issue to the txp_prefs table. I replaced my current table with one that is created during a fresh install and everything was good to go. I’m not sure what row in my txp_prefs table caused the problem, but I’ll let you know if I figure it out.

Side note: I downloaded TXP 4.0.3 from the TXP home page. After a fresh install, the txp_prefs table that was created listed the version as TXP 1.0rc4, but the backend of my site says the install is TXP 4.0.3 (in the footer). Should that be?
