.htaccess problem

when i upload the .htaccess with the correct entry, then i have no access to my files – i must delete the htaccess so i can connect to the admin-interface. mod_rewrite is active but i see no entry with mod_php in the phpinfo. is that the problem? or have i some other problems? thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english ;-)
