Can providers refuse e-mail sent by mail forms?
I don’t think this is Textpattern related so I’ll post it here. I’ve been using zem_contact on several sites now without a problem. But now for the first time there is one particular e-mail address that won’t receive mails sent with the form. I tried several other addresses in the same form, all working, just not that one.
Could this be provider or domain related? Unfortunately I don’t know anyone with an address at the same domain, so I can’t try this.

You could try contact the mail manager/postmaster of that domain, see if he does strange things with it.

Yeah, I was planning to do that, I just was curious if anyone had seen the problem before.

Only with the \r\n headers issue, but that’s corrected on the zem_contact_reborn version.

Try sending a mail from that domain without using the form and see if it gets through. If it’s blocked too then it’s a domain block, not a form-mailer block.

I can mail from the domain, just not to a certain email address/domain.

Re: Can providers refuse e-mail sent by mail forms?
I just received an anwer from the mail host:
There is a safeguard on our servers, to decrease the amount of spam e-mails that are received. This also includes the so called mail scripts that you are referring to. The sender mail address is verified by the server, and if that is not correct the message is refused. Unfortunately we cannot help you with finding an alternative.
Well, I hope my translation makes sense…
Since I wouldn’t know how exactly mail forms work, can someone tell me if this means that I can’t use zem_contact or any other mail form for this client, or is there something that can be changed in the plugin code? Or shall I just ask the client to get another email address ;)
BTW this is stil the original zem_contact, would changing to zem_contact_reborn make a difference?
If I set up a gmail address as mailto address, and have the mail forwarded to client’s own email address, would that give the same problems?

<i>The sender mail address is verified by the server, and if that is not correct the message is refused.</i>
Sounds like the script/plugin is not using a sender address that actually exists on the domain. Creating an account for the mail script to use as a sender identity might work, even if it is just an autoresponder.

Re: Can providers refuse e-mail sent by mail forms?
Thanks. I’ll give the gmail account option a try, though I wouldn’t know if that would change the sender address. I’ll have to wait until clients are back from their holidays though…
