Change default collation? PHPMYADMIN

Somehow or another I ended up with a bunch of my tables collated as latin1_Swedish_ci in my textpattern db.

I wanted to migrate to another db (dump and import), but I encountered the collation error when I suggested it import as UTF8.

Any suggestions how I might change the collation on all of them at once?

Unless something is broken, I’d recommend leaving well enough alone. MySQL’s collation and charset handling is a disaster when it comes to upgrading and migrating.

If you must, there is some info here.

Re: Change default collation? PHPMYADMIN

Zem,
Thanks, To test, I changed collation per table to utfx_unicode_ci, and everything seems to be working fine. I have very little article wise in the database. Disaster’s suck, so far this seems to be working fine.

In the future, if a DB table set is mixed in its collation, what’s the best method of import?

I think you are mixing up Collation and charsets. The two are different and serve different purposes. See the link mentioned above.
