I'm new to all this and have a few questions please

Hi, chances are my questions have already been answered, but since i have no idea what i’m doing, i dont know what to search for, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, i’ll be mostly grateful.

I’m not used to CMS, i tend to do things the old school way, but i’m trying it out and so far, so good. I’ve run into a few problems which are mostlikely my own fault.

I’ve set up my sections, edited the page and CSS.
Then i setup my categories and sub-categories.

Like so:

Section = Photography
Category = Photography
Sub-Cat = Nature / Places / Objects etc

The problems i’m having now are that when I ask for say the 10 most recent posts to be displayed from the Photography category, unless i make a post in that parent category, nothing shows in the sub cats.

Also, i’ve displayed my sub categories as links using the ‘list of links’ option rather than the Popup list, but when you click on a sub category (ie Nature), the page loads but the links dont load with it.
I’m not really too fussed about that, users could always press back to get the list, although it defeats the purpose of having it there.

Once again, any help would be grately appreciated.
