Installing trouble on a GoDaddy host.
So much for the 15 minute installation, I’m afraid.
Now into day 2 and still can’t “connect with MySQL database”. I’ve been round and round with the GoDaddy support people and have tried every mathmatical possibility in defining MySQL login, password, database, server, etc…and nothing is working.
Anyone performed an install of TextPattern on a godaddy host and run into a similar situation?
Thanks.
John.

There’s a money-back guarantee. Where does the 15 minute figure come from, btw?

This is not a Textpattern problem, I’m afraid. Can you show us the details of what you are entering in each field (without the password of course).

Re: Installing trouble on a GoDaddy host.
The “15 Minutes” came from the following article on Sitepoint…a very high compliment. My use of it was not meant to be negative…I’m sure it can be done…but just noting it was taking this poor soul just a tad longer and I’m figureing its a GD issue.

Re: Installing trouble on a GoDaddy host.
As for the problem:
And no worries about security issues just yet…this was to be just a test install before working on the actual blog upload.
MySQL login: stonerdata1 (GoDaddy…says this should be the name of the database)
MySQL Server: local host
MySQL database: stonerdata1
To which I receive the following:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/tmp/mysql.sock’ (2) in /home/content/s/t/o/stonercreek/html/blog/textpattern/setup/index.php on line 188

Re: Installing trouble on a GoDaddy host.
MySQL Server: local host
localhost
shouldn’t have a space.
It appears GoDaddy provides phpMyAdmin for accessing MySQL. You should test your mysql login and password there. If it doesn’t work, one of those things is wrong.
The problem is one of the four database parameters (username, server, database or password).
