Migrate existing images on server without uploading each and every one

I have made a successful switch/install onto my server. However, I have a image folder filled with several hundred images. How can I get TextPattern to recognize them, so I can use them with the same functionality as the images that I upload directly through TextPattern. Because I certainly do not want to go through and re-upload each and every one. But I would like to get the benefits that textpattern offers. Does this make sense? I basically want the image management of text pattern to recognize my existing images. Is there a script that will do this?

They are also categorized into differently named folders. Is that going to be a problem?

Also, any ideas on how I could also turn several hundred .htm files that only store text into journal entries without having to copy and paste every single file’s text into a journal entry? I am migrating a CMS’less site. And these are my two biggest problems.
