Re: Traffic needs

1000 visits per day, week or month? And you mean how much bandwidht it uses?

I dont´t know the answer either but would be happy to hear the estimates.

Re: Traffic needs

When hosts talk about traffic I supose it is hard Bytes they talk about. So 1000 visits is, as I belive a proper base for meassurement. No time frame needed as I’m only interested how much bytes must be transported.

Re: Traffic needs

Depends entirely on your page size, CSS stylesheet size and image size. One page load could be anything from a few kilobytes, to a few hundred (or more, if you have many large images). Multiply that by the number of visits.

Re: Traffic needs

Pagesize, CSS and images. I exclude images. But, it is also depending how much time readers stay and dwell on the material. Perhaps the last one, visotors behaviour is the hardest to predict. That’s why I’m looking after some wisedom.

Re: Traffic needs

Does bandwidth increase with length of visit on the same page? That doesn’t sound right.

Re: Traffic needs

Visit is a way of “grouping” pageviews together by what is assumed to be the same user/machine in a limited timeframe. I think these are the commonly used explanations:

Pageviews (= Pageimpressions) are usually a better way to estimate traffic, since it takes one variable out of the equation.

It’s very different acorss different types of sites. Will you have most of your traffic from search-engines? That would mean very low PIs per visit. Will you have lots of loyal visitors and lots of people commenting and discussing – that would mean a much higher PI per visitor rating.

My wild guess would be that with 1000 visits (and 1000-3000 PIs) per day you could stay below 1-2 GB (if you wanted to).
