problem posting some of the most inspired profanity imaginable

If I try to post an article that contains the very useful F-word, I get the following error:

“You don’t have permission to access …/textpattern/index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request “

I contacted my web host first and they checked for filters somewhere in MySQL
and elsewhere and decided it must be Textpatterns fault

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Are you sure it has to do with the F-word? Does it work if you take it out? I can hardly imagine that this should be the cause of the problem.

I am very sure. I have tried posting an article with just the offending word, and no-go. As well, an article of three hundred words will not post until i remove the word. I have not tried other unmentionable vocabulary however, just the F-word.

I tried it on one of my sites and it works no problem (TXP 4.0.3) — even tried different combinations of capital and small letters. I don’t even habe a problem using f*ck in the title.

So it’s not TXP that wants to cleanse your language.

Talk to your hosting provider again. Read about my case here, especially Sencer’s advice.

“You don’t have permission to access …/textpattern/index.php on this server.

This is a very strong indication that this has to with the server setup. If it was Textpattern it would use its own error-pages. In fact it’s not possible to let the webserver handle errors, once a php script has control (we had plenty of debates about this with 4.0.0). And the message you are seeing is clearly a webserver-error message.

I contacted my web host first and they checked for filters somewhere in MySQL and elsewhere

If they checked Mysql-Filters, you either came across support people people that are not very capable, or you were not able to convey the specifics of your problem properly in a way they understood.
