Re: Favorable Designs = TXP + Multi-Category + E-Commerce
This is great Rob, I want a full write up on how you did it. Multiple categories, e-commerce and all.

I’ll have to consider what the best way would be to release the cart as a plugin. It took quite a bit of time to build the cart system and would take a lot more work to make more plugin friendly and document. Based on that I’d say its likely that the plugin would be ransomed.
That would be fantastic. I’m gonna defentely put some money in for that ransom. Just… RELEASE IT QUICKLY!!!!1 :)

Put me down for a ransom of $50.
More, if it get’s released quickly.
Rob’s Docs are excellent and his response is very swift. Great work.

me, too, and you can count on some ransom from me as well. nice work, by the way.
ma_smith, what i’ve done is written up guidelines, with screenshots, that walk people through the various ways that they can update images and add entries, etc.

I have a half-baked implementation of osCommerce atm. I would put up some money for ransom on this implementation.
I know a few developers using TXP and they have been looking for a e-commerce package to round out their offerings!

Hey, I’m late to the party as always: I’m game for the ransom too.

Anything that I can strap onto txp to make ACCESSIBLE eCommerce sites I will gladly pay for.
Probably needs to have some extra features too, mostly another more secure third party payment system, but that means rewriting a lot of the existing cart… if it’s just for small businesses that don’t mind PPal, I can’t see any immediate problem?

Any news regarding the state of your TXP-e-commerce project?

Re: Favorable Designs = TXP + Multi-Category + E-Commerce
The status is “still in the works”. The site has been running for a couple months so I’ve been monitoring it and making sure everything still works (like Paypal IPN).
There’s still some work that will have to go into it to make a plugin that could be easily used by others. And there is also the question of writing documentation. The day will come when it can be released but I’m still working up to it now.

Re: Favorable Designs = TXP + Multi-Category + E-Commerce
rob,
your solution seems quite elegant to me and i’m in the process of trying to implement a similar solution (using the webforce cart in conjunction with paypal). my needs aren’t as extensive as yours: i need only to sell one item.
question: i notice that you are charging ohio residents sales tax. looking at the source code, it doesn’t look like you hardcoded a tax variable into your “submit order” button. so did you specify ohio sales tax in your client’s paypal profile? and, if so, is that working? is state sales tax indeed calculated?
i ask because i have specified ny state sales tax in my profile, but at no point is it being added to the base amount.

Yes, all of my tax and shipping is handled by Paypal and I haven’t had a problem with it. The way its setup you have to ship to an Ohio address to be charged shipping.
