You could try using custom fields (see <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=12371”>this thread</a> for more information).
Honestly, I’m not sure there is a “best” approach. Some people use sections to separate things, others use categories. And there’s always the example in the thread linked above. More than anything, I think it depends on your own preferences and how separate you want your content in various languages to be.
