OpenSourceCMS rating

Hi,

On OSCMS we offer many demos of systems, Textpattern being one of them.

For new users looking for what to use on their site, OSCMS is the place many come to visit for demos and advice.

As you can see on the CMS Rating by user table, Textpattern is #2 in the blogs category.

When you click on Textpattern, it will take you to the demo start page where you can cast your rating.

Re: OpenSourceCMS rating

You know, that’s the one thing that bugs me about that site. I mean, I really like OpenSourceCMS.com but it bugs me that they call Textpattern a blog. It seems like it’s so much more than that to me.

Excellent resource though.

Re: OpenSourceCMS rating

Hi Ren,

There are portals that can be used as blogs and blogs that can be used as a CMS.

I have voiced my opinion on this many times, I don’t care for the portal/blog classifications. Many times a user will frown upon a system because it’s under the blog category and then choose a portal with less features.

Eventually I’d like to see systems classified by other means, like target site, user levels, etc. We’ll get there, slowly but surely, at least that’s my intent.

Re: OpenSourceCMS rating

Maybe that’s the problem with trying to classify it. Once you are proficient with Textpattern, there really is no limit as to what it can be used as or for. It makes a great blog and can be used as an excellent portal too. Heck, I think Zem was using it for an e-commerce site.

But that takes nothing away from OpenSourcecMS.com. Like I said, it really is an invaluable all-in-one resource for anyone looking for a a CMS app.

Re: OpenSourceCMS rating

I do agree : I had to deal with many txp sites (about 10 or 12…) and only one is a blog-like site.
Txp is far too powerfull to be classified only as a blogging tool.

It can be but someone has to volunteer to keep the info updated.
