noindex, nofollow on TextPattern log-in page?
Hello everyone,
Is there a way to add meta information such as “noindex, nofollow” on the Textpattern login page so that search engines don’t index it? Or, would it just be wiser to include a robots.txt on the server?
Thanks!

I just use a robots.txt file. I’m not sure if there is another way of doing it short of hacking the code.

If it’s not linked from anywhere robots can’t guess its location. That said it’s better to use robots.txt and add the following:
<pre>
User-agent: *
Disallow: /textpattern/
</pre>

If you have Google Toolbar, Google checks every page you load to see if it is in their system. I put ANY directory that I will view that I don’t want Google or any other robot to see in a robot.txt file because of this.

isn’t that exactly what the evil bots need to find a directory they don’t yet know about?

It is linked to if you use the CSS management in Txp, because the css.php is inside the “textpattern” folder. The reason being it makes it easier to check that the file is there in the diagnostics, but still… :/
