Another Category Question...cbs_category_list?
Hello,
I’ve read through lots of documentation and plugin faqs, but am still not totally clear on this. On my site I have a blog section. I have several categories that are made for use on the blog section specifically. I realize categories are not tied to sections. However, all I want to do is on the blog page output a list of the appropriate categories as links on the sidebar. The user clicks on a category link, and in the main column 6 article excerpts are listed for that category. I figure I could just hardcode the categoriy links I want, right?
I eventually found a plugin called cbs_category_list, which I think will only output the appropriate categories that have articles related to a specified section.
Is this what I need, or am I missing something obvious?
Thanks!

You may try lookiing around at textpattern.org for a category plugin?
I think Sencer’s asy_category plugin is a good one for this kind of thing also.
They even document how they used it at textpattern.org here
Hope that helps,
Matthew

Actually lots of people want to do what you want: restrict categories to particular sections. That’s why I wrote cbs_category_list. I think it will fit your needs.

Heh, Stuart. You seem to be using that link a lot.
And, not to be hard ass or anything, but plugin-related questions are really best suited to the plugins forum, please. Thanks.

Re: Another Category Question...cbs_category_list?
Seems my thread was resurrected today ;-) Thanks guys, and cbeyls – I will be using your plugin. Thanks for writing it!
Elenita – It wasn’t a plugin specific question. It was more like – “Here’s what I want to do, here is a plugin that might do it. Am I overlooking something easier perhaps?”

Well just to give you another option there is a non-plugin method of doing this.
