So I had this design about a year ago but never implemented it, but now that I have it seems a little off.

I think the header graphic is a definite improvement. Very striking. Nice and clean overall. All looks fine to me. :)

Looks good. The second design looks cleaner and less cluttered. I like your color combo.

It does use a lot of vertical space for he banner which makes for more scrolling on smaller screens. Also, your users have less immediate access to content, as a trade-off with the vastly reduced navigation.

Overall, though I think it’s nice.
