Re: okay text pattern installed but now How do I view the actual site?

You may need to change where textpattern is pointing to your site under the admin/preferences/
otherwise you should be able to point your browser to: http://yoursite.com/ (if you installed textpattern at the root directory) or yoursite.com/folder/ (if you installed txp there?)

Get it.

Re: okay text pattern installed but now How do I view the actual site?

when I do that www.mysite.com/folder/textpattern/ I always get the admin interface. I want to just see the end result site. Did I do something wrong on the install? I am positive the path to where I installed is correct. Seems this should be easy, but I think I am missing something.

/textpattern/ is the admin interface. Like Matthew said, you need to go one level up. So in admin > preferences > Site URL: www.mysite.com/folder (no closing slash!).

Re: okay text pattern installed but now How do I view the actual site?

Try www.mysite.com/folder/index.php instead of what you were trying. That’s the default installation if you’ve put it in a subfolder or subdomain and should get you to the front page. You could also try www.mysite.com/index.php. You could try folder.mysite.com/index.php.

Are you seeing an index.htm or index.html file? You may need to specify index.php when you pull it up for testing, then set your .htaaccess file to direct the browsers to the correct homepage.

Edit: Changed the wording because of the previous posting while I was composing. Looked like I was saying that my way was better.
