locked myself out... changed the only author to designer privileges
Hi.
newbie Qs.
1.
not thinking too much i changed the privileges of the ONLY author on my site from publisher to designer,
rendering myself with absolutly no control over things.
how can i restore the privileges to publisher and gain access to the admin contorls again?
any help is greatly appriciated!!
2.
befor the step described above i tried to add an autor.
i got the following mesagge:
“Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for barris@yahoo.com in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dynamicTesting\textpattern\lib\txplib_misc.php on line 788”
i run txp on a windows pc using iis xp professional sp2 with php 5 and mySql. this is not a server and is not available online, its just for studying txt and testing for now.does someone have any idea why txp can’t send outgoing mail with the new author’s password?

regarding question 1.
you can change the password through phpmyadmin.
see the tutorial on this in at textpattern.org
Question 2. Dunno :) Not that smart.

thanx Matthew for the swift response :)
the thing is, i know the password but the only author is now a ‘designer’ hence having no access
to the admin controls, so even when i log in , knowing the password, i have no admin access.
how can i reset the privileges? (since i have only one author there is no ‘publisher’…)

Check <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=6702”>this</a> post. All you need to do is change the permissions of the “designer”

Paul,
You should be able to change your status in phymyadmin as well.
It would be under users or privs?
Not sure, never had to do it.
The other thing you could do, would be to temporarily edit the user privelages for a designer to be able to do anything:
