Delayed Posting - Dates in the Future and Pinging
Ok. I know I can setup a date in the future for a Live article. I have done this a couple of times.
What I don’t know, and don’t really have a way of testing, is if using a date in the future will ping when the article goes live.
I have TXp setup to ping the ping-o-matic site. Will this site be pinged if I use a future date for an article, and then that future date comes due?

Ok. Since nobody seems to know… can anyone tell me how I might be able to figure this out myself?
Or maybe where in the code the “delayed post” stuff is? Maybe I can figure out if it does ping, or if it doesn’t…

Okay. Based on what I’m reading, your impression of the code is that there’s something in Textpattern that waits for the right moment, then goes “Ding! Time to make this post live!”. Well, it doesn’t work like that. The post is always live, but TXP will never show a post with a date before the current date and time.

Ok. If that is the case, then that would imply that there is no ping when the article goes “live”.
So if I wanted a timed article to go live with a ping, I need to ping the places myself… or write a plugin.
