I like the layout, especially the sidebar buttons, but the contrast with the colours used would probably send me cross-eyed after about 10 minutes methinks. I’ll reserve judgement on that until you maybe change them.
I’m using Windows and with FF 1.0.7 and Opera 8.5.1 it looks fine but with IE6 the sidebar drops below the main content. Probably the old box-model problem.

I completely agree with Stu. Nice site! All which has to be improved are the font-colors .. esp. the colors of the article headlines. They are much too dark. Good work tlibby

I like the menu. A bit dark but unlike Stuart I don’t mind the yellow on black as I spent many years staring at an amber monochrome monitor :-). I’m not fond of narrow fixed, width sites but other than those items, which I admit are personal rpeferences, it has a nice layout.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination. / 36-bits Forever! / #include <disclaimer.h>;

Thanks all for the input, I’ll be working on improving the site and taking all suggestions into account and tweaking the site again soon.
