The Big Takeover - Music with Heart
The website of one of the oldest independently produced music magazines in the history of underground punk, pop, and rock music has been re-imagined, re-designed, and re-born…in TXP-driven tasty goodness.
Comments welcome and appreciated.

Re: The Big Takeover - Music with Heart
good work igner
would like to know how you went about your author pages
coupla comments:
- the body text could use a bit more line-height
.indArticle p {line-height:1.3}
- see first Rabid article – every paragraph gets two opening and closing paragraph tags – maybe that’s the kinda excess you get in rock ‘n roll
- on the top 10 page, maybe pop photos & names of authors in a good lookin grid rather than listing out text (a lot of words repeated each time, could be more visual)
- I like the Top 10 in the right-hand column in an author’s article page

thanks.
the author pages use a minor hack to publish.php – when we determine that an author’s being passed in, I use a page “author” if it exists, otherwise use the default. I had to do that because there was no way to get around the frontpage layout otherwise.

well, since the first issue was hacked out on a manual typewriter 25 years ago, Jack’s definitely old-school :) – actually, that was detritus from a failed attempt to use the tinyMCE plugin on the back-end…I just missed the extra p’s. thanks for catching that.

definitely in the plans – we’re not really happy with the top 10 listings, but didn’t want that to be an impediment to launch. The thinking is we’ll probably end up with something structurally not unlike the front page, but we haven’t worked out the details entirely.

thanks! that’s a plugin I wrote for this project which will probably see more a release once it’s a bit more refined.
Thanks again for the feedback, it’s much appreciated!
