page numbers 1,2,3 etc

Hi All

I was wondering if there are any alternatives to go about splitting up pages for a list of articles so they are displayed in number form similar to a google search result, with lets say 10articles on each pag (and similar to the page results of this forum) i.e. page << 1-2-3-4-5 Next >>

I have tried using the rsx_page_number plugin, which appears to do the job – but only on the main index page.
It does not seem to work for page listing out specific sections and categories such as index.php?s=products_list&c=vanities

does anyone know of any other alternatives to rsx_page_number plugin ?
