moving site/db prob: diff versions of php
I have my little .sql file from my oldhost and a new db set up on my newhost, but import does nothing.
I suspect the issue is that the dump was made with php4.3.2 and new host uses php4.3.10.
What do I need to edit to fix this? I was following a thread to textdrive about similar issue, but the link was dead :(
And the place where this info would be on the wiki was…blank.
boo hoo! thanks in advance

You’ll need to either use the rss_admin_db_manager plugin or an external tool such as phpMyAdmin (TextDrive provides you with this, check your setup email).

hmm…yeah, I was using phpMyAdmin to do the import, but nothing happened when I hit that little “go” button after browsing for my dump.sql
If I were to install the plugin, would it be to my site on my oldhost or with a clean install on my newhost?

Nothing happened? You didn’t get an error or message of any kind?
You’d install the plugin in both places: the one to export the data, the other to import it.

Re: moving site/db prob: diff versions of php
No error message or anything. I figured either there were blank lines or extra blank chars in my dump.sql (I’m on a mac, so these things happen), but I looked and cleaned and tried again…nuttin’
That’s what made me suspect a discrepency btwn the php’s
So, thanks for the tip, I’ll switch my DNS info and try the plugin :)
