Should comments work right "out-of-the-box?"

Or, individual pages for that matter?

When you click an article it comes with a 404 error :(

Anyone know what could be causing this? Is this expected until I activate/enable something somewhere? Am I a complete idiot? Are there any specific FAQ’s I should read that could clear this up?

Any help or helpful links will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they should. FAQs: 404 error when linking to article pages
