Advanced Search Possibilities?
Hi,
I’ve been asked to put in a proposal for a fairly complex site, most of which would be do-able with Textpattern. But in the site I would need to be able to do some advanced searching.
This is mock-up, that the client produced, of how the search fields would look:
I guess this sort of thing can’t be done with the standard search fields, but could it be done with plugins? I would imagine that each search field would be entered into a custom field in the article, and a plugin does some magic and everything is perfect…
I don’t know anything about writing plugins, but if I was to get the contract I would be able to offer some cheese (thats what motivates people here right?) to some one that does. I would just like to know if it is theoretically possible, and realistic or if i’d be better off looking elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ed.

Re: Advanced Search Possibilities?
I’d be interrested too, to have the ability to search custom fields… what you ask though is a little more complicated than what I had in mind, for it would require custom fields types to be edited (it’s only text right now…). Can certainly be done but out of my range of skills I am afraid…

Re: Advanced Search Possibilities?
Ed, I am working on something very similar to what you need for a TXP powered property website. If you’re interested PM me.
I am only @ the beginning with this hack (I think this functionality is beyond plug-ins) but I will have it finished one way or the other (have been putting it off for quiet a while now).
Cheers, Gerhard.
