Help on updating file upload url...
Hi all!
For once I haven’t been able to find the answer I’m looking for anywhere in the manuals, faqs, instructions, etc…and while I’ve looked over heaps of posts on these boards, I haven’t seen anything relating to my particular quandary (too bad these boards aren’t searchable!), so…here goes!
First though, please understand, I’m reasonably intelligent, but I’m NOT a techie by a l-o-n-g shot! I know next to nothing about php and all, actually I’m much better on the creative end of things, and get confused by code too darned easily – which is why once I get used to it, I think Textpattern is going to help keep me sane in the long run, lol!
But I digress, sorry. Here’s the deal; I originally set up Textpatter and a database, in a subdirectory of an existing domain name, following instructions. It went beautifully, and I played around with the program, and ended up deciding to keep it. That meant changing the directory name I’d installed Textpattern into from ‘trial’ to ‘archives’.
I used the instructions from moving from a subdirectory to root, or back, and it all seemed to go beautifully – except now when I run the diagnostics, I get the following error;
File Upload Path is not writable: /home/(username)/(rootdirectory)/trial/files
The problem here is that /trial/ is the ORIGINAL name of the folder I installed Textpattern in, not the name the directory was changed to – I’ve checked everything I could find, and the new path is always listed correctly – including in config php…
Do any of you by any chance have any ideas what I might have forgotten or missed? Or could this by some chance be an actual glitch? (I kind of doubt it, myself….I figure I must have missed something that would have been obvious to ‘most anybody else!)

Go to admin > preferences > advanced preferences.
Look for “File Upload Path” and make sure it is correct.

Um, first thing I did actually, looked for it, can’t find it anywhere – can’t seem to find it MENTIONED anywhere in the FAQs, guides, etc, either…thanks for the try!

Whups, actually I just realized I’d totally missed seeing the advanced preferences tab – and there it was! D’oh…
Tthe diagnostic says everything’s tidy now, thanks so much – sorry for the dumb question!!
