Placing container tags around multiple paragraphs

It seems like this would surely have been discussed already, but a little bit of searching didn’t turn up anything.

There’s one broad area where Textpattern’s Textile engine works much differently than the converter at http://textism.com/tools/textile/index.html. It comes up whenever I need to place containers around multiple paragraphs. The problem is that if you try to insert an opening div or pre or blockquote tag (or whatever) on its own line, Textpattern will kindly make it into a paragraph. Then the closing tag will also be its own paragraph.

Is there any way around this? Or is there any plan to make Textpattern behave like Textism in this area?

Additional note: this may be more of a feature request, but one way to work around my problem would if I could turn off textile inline. Then I could just insert something like <code>[=<div>=]</code> to keep Textpattern from inserting p tags.

hi jcamenisch

In this FAQ you will find some useful tips about how to use Textile.

the linked FAQ says:

1. A space at the beginning of a line will turn off <code><p>…</p></code> tags for that line

There are some method to turn off textile inline. Again, there are listed in the FAQ.
