Re: More advanced, or just smart search

5. Searching for ‘clicker’ (occurring in many articles) with the regular txp search gives me 44 results. With your plugin just 22.

(test page is here) EDIT: removed.

EDIT: I think I understand this, the regular search also gives results if the search word is part of another word.

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

It searches ALL sections at the moment Els. That’s something to be sorted along with the “excerpts” You should have a read of the instructions I have on mine for some extra ways of searching.

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

Yes I thought so. I read your instructions, they just don’t seem to work exactly like that. Do I have to set the searchmethod to some specific value to have the + and – and () working?

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

I have mine set to boolean with prioritysearch active. Exactly as the tag is shown in Henrik’s form example.

Don’t you think it’s odd having 2 Henriks, both from Sweden and both doing advanced search plug-ins. Spooky or what?

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

So have I. But when I search for +(rookie skippy), and I know there is only one article with the two words, I also get the other one that only has one of them.

Maybe it’s just the one Henrik who changed his name ;)

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

Well this is what Henrik needs to know isn’t it? Read my post again. I edited it.

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

Searching for a phrase wrapped in quotes (double or single) doesn’t seem to work. I tried using +(australian friend) as well but it returned 13 results although the post with the phrase “australian friend” in it was top of the list. I presume the rest simply contained the word “friend” as I can’t think I’ve used “Australian” anywhere else. I’m modifying my instructions as I go. ;)

Well apparently I mentioned Murdoch some time ago so Australian is in there twice but he is definitely no friend.

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

Gee things really happen in the night.

We can safely assume that my installations of txp is ‘kinder’ on my plugin then yours. I’m not blaming anyone here but I can search for senteces, “something somethingelse” and use +, – etc.

I’m gonna do this: I’ll install the latest txp and try it out. I’ve also decided to make a go at making this plug ‘for real’ since it seems to be much appreciated. I can not tell you when it is going to be complete but I’ll promise you I’ll let you know, here on this thread, when there is anything new to test.

And I guess that this Henrik Henrik business is just a freaky accident. But I’m not the other Henrik, I’m sure of that since we don’t look alike… ;)

Happy TXP-ing

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

By the way, I just got news that the 4.1 branch of txp WILL have search for individual words… so perhaps my efforts are (again, I made a try at a 404-plug finished about the same day that the 4.0.2 got released) somewhat in vain.

But I’ll make the plug anyways: good to get to know the system!

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

I spotted your 404 thread. :) Where did you hear about the TXP search. From the email listing? I don’t think I’ve had one today, or was that yesterday?

You don’t think this is a question of different MySQL versions do you?

Re: More advanced, or just smart search

I, boldy, last night sent a patch to let txp search for multiple words, and the answer back contained the ‘secret’ information.

I hope I haven’t disclosed a top secret tho… ;)
