Request for plugin: real easy Technorati tagging
I looked at all the Technorati-tagging-plugins developed so far and neither of them work very well. I’m no coder, but it seems to me it should be possible to have a plugin that broadcasts Technorati tags found in the keywords field as part of the atom feed. If someone out there knows how to do it, I’ll be the first to pay part of the ransom.

Spits out a comma seperated list of your keywords. Works only if your keywords are comma seperated too.
Version 0.1, handle with care, but not much can go wrong I suppose.

Wow, that’s fast! I’ll ask my question here, so others can profit from the answer. I installed and activated the plugin, and wrote a test article with <txp:rei_technorati /> in the excerpt field. The excerpt is syndicated. However, when I look at the atom feed source, it contains <txp:rei_technorati /> again; in other words, the tags are not produced. What am I doing wrong?

If you place it in a form? Then it works like it is supposed?

I’m afraid not. This is what ends up in the atom feed:
<txp:rei_technorati />
So that’s just the tag itself. I placed the tag in the article form and added keywords to an article to test the plugin. Perhaps it’s because I syndicate the excerpt, like I said, and not the body text. Could that explain it?

I think the system can’t handle txp tags in the feeds. Unfortunately, then there is nothing I can do about it…
Maybe some core textpattern programmer can shine a light on this problem.

If you read through the ajw_technorati_tags thread, all of this has been discussed. Perhaps it’s time I revisited the issue to see if the circumstances have changed.

Andrew: Yes, I know. But that was then… I was hoping that it would be possible now, with 4.0.
Reinier: Thanks for the plugin, anyway. It will just have to do for now, without the tags-in-feeds.

@ Andrew: That will be much appreciated. I don’t know whether Technorati receives a ping automatically when a Txp site is updated. According to what they write on their site, that should be about as good as having the tags included in the atom/rss feed (if the tags are in the body of the article). I don’t know if this is true, but if it is, it might help (if having tags in excerpts is still impossible).
