comments dont work after fresh install of 4.0.2

hi I’m new to textpattern and I recently installed textpattern on my testserver, everything is working great except I cant find the articles if I link to them. on the frontpage right after you install you are greeted by a default article, when I click on the comment on that, I get the message “The requested URL /test was not found on this server”

I changed in preferences to have permanent link as /title, it didnt work with the default value either.

On the mainpage I can see the articles just fine, but if I search for example the existing article test, I get the search result “http://localhost/test” but when I click on it I get “The requested URL /gods was not found on this server” even though it clearly exist as it’s showing up correctly on the frontpage.

So basicly textpattern cant find the html versions of all my articles.

Second question, where can I see which id an article has?

thanks in advance, hope I can figure this out as it seems pretty slick otherwise :)

I’m trying to use the “messy” way but it doesnt work either.

I have permanent link set as “/title” and try to reach “http://localhost/test” which exist. but I get the 404 error.

That’s not messy, if that’s what you’re saying. Messy would be http://localhost/index.php?id=1

ah ok thanks, it works now. one more thing though, where can I see which article relates to which id tag?

That, unfortunately hasn’t been added yet: the ability to see the article id as plain text. It’s an oversight, and its not there, because, well, no one’s patched it yet. :)

You can, however, find it, by going to the “articles” tab. You’ll see there your list of articles. If you take your mouse and hover over over the article link, the id# will be part of the url in the status bar. It’ll look something like this:

http://local.dev/textpattern/index.php?event=article&step=edit&ID=1

That last part is what you’re after: ID=1
