Textile not working in article
Articles on my home page and in archive are not styled and are not displaying Textile. Things were fine yesterday, but I have since 1) Upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2; 2) added categories and assigned articles to them post hoc; and 3) made the if_comments change in the default form.
I’m new enough to Textpattern not to be sure why this has happened. Hints?

Re: Textile not working in article
I moved this here because the stated problem is not just about Textile. :)

Re: Textile not working in article
What exactly should we be seeing, that we aren’t?

Re: Textile not working in article
What I’m seeing is times (or similar) when font-family should be Verdana, “Lucida Grande”, Tahoma, Helvetica — plus the right margin invading sidebar-2.
Also, textile markup is displayed in article (FY06) rather than delivering formatted text.
@mary: Thanks for moving to appropriate spot. Almost posted here to begin with.

Re: Textile not working in article
It looks like in Admin > Preferences ‘Use Textile’ is set to ‘Convert linebreaks’, where it should be ‘Use Textile’.

Re: Textile not working in article
That’s what I looked for before posting here. Right now, I cannot find ‘Use Textile’ under Admin > Preferences in either site preferences or advanced preferences. Where did it go?

Re: Textile not working in article
Er… for me it’s in Site preferences, under ‘Publish’. That’s 4.0.2 (rev. 1090).

Re: Textile not working in article
Alright, I have it back now. Re-FTP’d textpattern folder contents and Use Textile option box returned, right where it should be. (I’m sure it was missing before.) It is (and was previously) set at Use Textile, but no effect on site.

Re: Textile not working in article
The same options can be set in the Write screen, under Advanced options. Could it be that these are wrong?

Re: Textile not working in article
Good idea. But both show ‘Use Textile’.
Thanks for thinking about this, Els.

Re: Textile not working in article
Well, I got css back by enclosing txp:body in p tags in default form. Maybe I have another problem there…
<code><h3><txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink></h3>
<h4>Posted <txp:posted /> by <txp:author /></h4>
<p><txp:body /></p>
<txp:comments_invite wraptag=“p” />
<div align=“center”><img src=”<txp:site_url />images/1.gif” style=“height:1px;width:400px” class=“divider” alt=”“ /></div>
</code>
Anything obvious?

Re: Textile not working in article
Textile is only applied when an article is saved. Ensure Use Textile is turned on in preferences, and re-save each of your articles, making sure Textile Body and Textile Excerpt are on under Advanced Prefs.

Re: Textile not working in article
Excellent
Thank you zem. Can’t say I understand it, though. Did I botch the upgrade to somehow “unsave” the articles? They had displayed correctly after being published (and saved) prior to the upgrade.
scott
…or maybe: If an article is assigned to a category after it has already been published, does the article need to be saved again?

Re: Textile not working in article
The global Use Textile preference didn’t work properly in 4.0, disappeared around 4.0.1, and reappeared in 4.0.2. I’d guess you had it turned off in an earlier version when it had no effect, and when it reappeared it suddenly (and, for you, unexpectedly) started working.
Obviously when you change the category on an article (published or otherwise) you have to click the Save button. There’s nothing more to it than that.
