is it imperative that register globals be turned off?
i called my provider and because i’m on a shared db i can’t turn off register globals because it would affect everyone else on the server. by leaving them on would i be just “asking for it” from some hackers? i guess i should find another place to be hosted. anyone know any great places for hosting that are cheap???

Well, they could turn it off just for your site. But in any case, did you try turning it off for yourself?
