Truncating?

I am trying to search for a way to make my posts short with a ‘more’ link on the end to reveal the whole post. ala CNN. What should I search for if ‘truncate’ and ‘post’ and other keywords aren’t showing any posts?

sorry to revive this old topic, but how do i use excerpts? i just want the a shot version of the artical on the front page of my site, with the complete artical in the relavant places.
