[issue] Bug with footnotes link and i18n chars

I found a Textile parsing bug. When I put a foot note reference in text just after a special charachter that is going to be changed in a character entity, the footnote link won’t appear.

If I use a 1-127 ascii char everything is ok.

Bug Example: Verità1 —-> rendered as is (wrong)
Non buggy: Verita1 —-> rendered as footnote link (right)

Well, you can see it live in this message! :)

I suppose this is definitely a bug. I’m still using TXP 4.01.

This is related to some other similar bugs. PHP’s regex code makes it hard to reliably detect utf-8 word boundaries. We haven’t found a solution yet.
