Killing comment preview in 4.0.2?
Has anyone had success killing the comment preview in 4.0.2? I’ve been playing with the new comment.php but it seems like when I make the obvious changes, the submit button just brings you back to the article page (without posting the article).

The comment preview is used to help prevent comment spam, why would you want to drop it?

Re: Killing comment preview in 4.0.2?
Quite simply, because it drives my visitors nuts and I haven’t had a spam problem yet. The moment spam becomes a problem I’ll put previews back in, but until that happens it would be nice to make comment submitting as fast as possible. When comment previews are enabled the comments on my site drop to pretty much nothing.

You could try making the preview more obvious (visually), maybe your visitors are not aware they have to submit their comment.
It’s explained here: customizing-previews-for-commenting

Re: Killing comment preview in 4.0.2?
I’m completely aware of the reasons I shouldn’t get rid of the comment preview for a number of reasons. The fact is, a lot of my visitors are both lazy and frequent commenters, and it really makes their lives a lot easier to not have to preview. They like to type their comment, click, and forget it. I’ve been using various versions of Textpattern for about a year now and have always disabled the preview — alternatives just aren’t cutting it in terms of speed. Like I said, if spam becomes an issue I’ll put the preview back in, but in the meantime it makes life a lot easier to just kill it.

i’m preparing a blog for travellers.. readers are not internet geeks…they’re parents and friends, lazy and commenting very often…there’s a good chance the blog is not going to be spammed (most of my blogs are not) …. and this feature is going to drive them crazy…that’s the only reason why i’m going to use wordpress and i think it would not be a huge problem to allow us to disable the feature without having to break the php files ….
